Negombo has a small port, and its economy is mainly based on tourism and its centuries-old fishing industry. Negombo is a traditional fishing town in Sri Lanka, and no wonder the town is a gourmet food lovers paradise with seafood available in plenty. Negombo also produces spices, ceramics and brassware. The town has a majority of Roman Catholics along with Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims while it has been given the name Little Rome due to the highly ornate Portuguese-era Roman Catholic churches found within the township.

Day 2: Negombo / Sigiriya /Minneriya National Park
Early breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Visit Negombo Fish Market Negombo Fish Market One of the largest and busiest fish markets in Sri Lanka, located along the Negombo Lagoon. Early in the morning, local fishermen bring in their fresh catch, and a lively auction takes place where buyers bid for fish, crabs, prawns, and lobsters. The market offers a fascinating glimpse into the traditional fishing culture, colorful scenes, and local way of life.
Depart for Habarana (approx. 34 hours)
Sitting on a major road junction almost equidistant between Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura and Dambulla (and close to Sigiriya and Ritigala), the large village of HABARANA is of little interest in itself but has a decent spread of relatively upmarket accommodation, making it a convenient base from which to visit any of the Cultural Triangles major sights.
03.00 PM onwards Safari at Minneriya National Park
Minneriya National Park is located 182 km away from Colombo in the North Central Plains of Sri Lanka.
Themajor city closest to Minneriya National Park is Polonnaruwa. The renovated vast ancient Minneriya Rainwater Reservoir that irrigates the considerable area of the district of Polonnaruwa is the focal point of the Minneriya National Park. Day 3: Sigiriya /Polonnaruwa
Proceed with packed breakfast for an early morning climb of Sigiriya Rock Fortress, renowned as the Eighth Wonder of the World. The morning hours are ideal to avoid the heat of the sun. On Completion proceed Visit Hiriwadunna Village: Catamaran ride, cookery demo, traditional Sri Lankan lunch, curd & treacle dessert (Lunch Included) Therefore Continue to Polonnaruwa UNESCO site tour of Quadrangle complex and ancient ruins Polonnaruwa Quadrangle complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A walking tour of the complex reveals the impressive ruins of an ancient city and one time capital. The highlights include the Vat adage, a circular relic house with intricate carvings, the Thuparama, a shrine with a reclining Buddha statue, the Gal Potha, an enormous stone slab with ancient inscriptions, and the massive Buddha statues of the Lankatilaka and the Rankoth Vehera stupas.

Day 4: Sigiriya / Dambulla /Kandy

Proceed to Visit Dambulla Cave Temple
Dambulla Cave Temple is a vast isolated rock mass and it was here that king Valagambahu took refuge in the01st century B.C. when fleeing from his enemies. He later turned the caves into a rock temple. The Golden Temple of Dambulla has been the centre of pilgrimage for Buddhists and Hindus like for 22 centuries. It is Sri Lankas most popular historic site. The Cave monastery, home to Buddhist monks is covered with exquisite2,000 year-old murals depicting the life and times of the Lord Buddha. The shrines also house a collection of157 statues of Buddha in various sizes and poses, including a 15 metre long reclining Buddha and vividly coloured frescoes on the walls and ceiling, making this the largest antique painted surface in the world.
Afterwards, proceed to visit a Spice Garden
Sri Lanka has always been renowned for its spices. Over 15 different spices call Sri Lanka home and many of them are traded in the international spice market. Cinnamon especially is endemic to Sri Lanka, and highest quality true Cinnamon can be obtained here. All offer free tours of their gardens with an English- speaking guide who can explain the merits and health properties of herbs, spices and plants including cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, coriander, coffee, nutmeg, pepper, cardamom, aloe vera, iriweriya and the henna plant.
On completion Proceed to Kandy (approx. 23 hours)
Kandy, perhaps is Sri Lankas most beautiful town. Set 488 meters above sea level, Kandy is Sri Lankas most visited place after Colombo. Kandy is the English name for the city of Maha Nuvara (Senkadagalapura) in the centre of Sri Lanka. It was the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. The city lies in the midst of hill sin the Kandy plateau, which crosses an area of tropical plantations, mainly tea. Kandy is one of the most scenic cities in Sri Lanka; it is both an administrative and religious city. It is the capital of the Central Province and also of Kandy District. Kandy is the home of The Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) one of the most venerable places for the Buddhist community of Sri Lanka and all around the world. It was declared a world heritage by the UNESCO in 1988. There are a number of shrines and temples in and around Kandy, where you will see rare paintings, frescoes, and stone carvings from the Kandyan period.
Afterwards proceed to Visit Temple of the Tooth
In the crown jewel of the city, Kandy is the famed Sri Dalada Maligawa, also known as the Temple of the Tooth. The golden-roofed Temple of the Sacred Tooth houses Sri Lankas most important Buddhist relic a tooth of the Buddha. The entire temple complex, from peaked tiled roofs to white walls with large airy windows, is built using classical Kandyan architecture.

Day 5: Kandy/Nuwara Eliya
Enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel, then proceed to Peradeniya Railway Station to board the train to Nanu Oya Station. Train timings and tickets will be advised shortly. Embark on one of Sri Lankas most scenic train journeys, winding through lush tea plantations, misty mountains, and picturesque valleys. Departing from Peradeniya, the train passes through charming villages, cascading waterfalls, and vibrant greenery, offering plenty of opportunities for photography and soaking in the natural beauty. The journey concludes at Nanu Oya, the gateway to Nuwara Eliya, after approximately 8hours of breathtaking scenery
